Daily Prayer for Wednesday, June 17, 2026 entitled: “In the Secret of Your Gaze”

In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to seek the Father far from applause and appearances. The greatest good grows in silence, like a seed hidden in the soil. Let us enter this prayer with a simple heart, allowing ourselves to be seen by God, who sees in secret.

Lord Jesus,
when I seek the approval of others,
bring my heart back to You.
Teach me to desire Your gaze
more than any human recognition.

Good Father,
may my prayer be like a lamp burning
in the inner room of my soul.
In the silence of Your presence,
grant me peace and truth.

When I perform an act of charity,
protect me from pride.
May my hands know how to give
without expecting rewards,
just as You give to me every day.

In times of sacrifice and self-denial,
make me joyful.
May fasting open space for Your grace
and make my heart freer
to love You and my brothers and sisters.

Lord,
teach me the joy of hidden things.
May my whole life
become a sincere offering before You,
who sees in secret and loves without measure.
Amen.

EXPLANATION

Jesus teaches that authentic faith does not seek human praise. Prayer, almsgiving, and fasting are encounters with God before they become visible actions. The Father sees what is born in the heart and welcomes every gesture done with sincere love. This Gospel invites us to live a true relationship with God, rooted in humility and trust, without turning good works into opportunities for vanity.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  1. Spend five minutes today praying in a quiet place.
  2. Perform an act of charity without telling anyone.
  3. Give up something unnecessary and offer the sacrifice to the Lord.
  4. Avoid seeking approval for the good you do.
  5. Thank God for what He is doing quietly in your life.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

  1. Do I seek God’s gaze more than the approval of others?
  2. Does my prayer come from the heart or from habit?
  3. Can I do good without expecting recognition?
  4. What form of fasting could help me grow spiritually?
  5. In what moments do I feel the Father’s presence most closely?
