Daily Prayer for Thursday, September 10, 2026, entitled: “Loving Without Measure in the Footsteps of Mercy”

Today’s Gospel offers us the pinnacle of Christ’s moral teaching: love for enemies and unconditional forgiveness. It is no human utopia, but the reflection of our heavenly Father’s charity. Let us be shaped by this mercy that gives without expecting anything in return.

Lord Jesus, Master of love and forgiveness,
break within our hearts every resentment and desire for revenge.
Teach us to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us.
Grant us the strength to bless those who curse us.

Merciful like the Father, make us capable of giving freely.
Do not let judgment and condemnation close our hearts.
May our measure in loving be overflowing and uncalculated.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Spirit of Peace, pour into us the sweetness of brotherly forgiveness.

Explanation

In Luke 6:27-38, Jesus asks His disciples for a radical leap: loving enemies, praying for persecutors, and giving without demanding return.
