In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to seek the Father far from applause and appearances. The greatest good grows in silence, like a seed hidden in the soil. Let us enter this prayer with a simple heart, allowing ourselves to be seen by God, who sees in secret.
Lord Jesus,
when I seek the approval of others,
bring my heart back to You.
Teach me to desire Your gaze
more than any human recognition.
Good Father,
may my prayer be like a lamp burning
in the inner room of my soul.
In the silence of Your presence,
grant me peace and truth.
When I perform an act of charity,
protect me from pride.
May my hands know how to give
without expecting rewards,
just as You give to me every day.
In times of sacrifice and self-denial,
make me joyful.
May fasting open space for Your grace
and make my heart freer
to love You and my brothers and sisters.
Lord,
teach me the joy of hidden things.
May my whole life
become a sincere offering before You,
who sees in secret and loves without measure.
Amen.
Jesus teaches that authentic faith does not seek human praise. Prayer, almsgiving, and fasting are encounters with God before they become visible actions. The Father sees what is born in the heart and welcomes every gesture done with sincere love. This Gospel invites us to live a true relationship with God, rooted in humility and trust, without turning good works into opportunities for vanity.
