The authoritative word driving away darkness and granting freedom
Jesus goes down to Capernaum and teaches with authority that stirs hearts. His Word is not mere human doctrine, but a living power capable of breaking every chain of evil. Let us open our souls to the Lord’s liberating grace.
Lord Jesus, holy and mighty Master,
you speak to our hearts with an authority that bestows life.
Unbind the fears that paralyze us
and render our minds docile to your divine truth.
Eternal Word of the Father,
your voice dispels the shadows of doubt and unbelief.
Teach our souls to recognize your holy presence.
Guard us from all deception of the evil one.
Christ, Light of the world,
break the chains of our inner bondages.
Purify our thoughts and our deepest desires.
Be the sole Lord of our daily existence.
Good and merciful Shepherd,
may your strength protect families and lost youth.
Grant us to witness courageously to your victory.
May your peace reign in every gesture we make.
Sustain priests in proclaiming the Holy Gospel.
Make effective every word spoken in your Name.
Accept our praise and lead us to eternal salvation.
Amen.
In the Gospel according to Luke (4:31-37), Jesus goes down to Capernaum and teaches on the Sabbath. The crowd is astonished by his teaching because his word possesses genuine divine authority. In the synagogue, a man with an unclean spirit recognizes Jesus as the Holy One of God. With a firm command, Jesus orders the demon to be silent and come out of the man, liberating him without causing any harm. This miracle causes great amazement among all, spreading the Messiah’s fame throughout the entire surrounding region.
