Daily Prayer for Friday, September 4, 2026 titled: “The New Joy of the Bridegroom Among Us”

The presence of Jesus brings an entirely new joy. He does not merely patch up our old way of living; He completely renews our hearts. Welcoming Christ means making room for the new wine of His divine Love.

Lord Jesus, Bridegroom of the Church,
fill our lives with your present joy.
Deliver us from the sadness of a superficial faith.

Father of immense mercy,
do not allow us to fit the Gospel into our selfish habits.

Transform the old wineskins of our self-centeredness.

Holy Spirit, New Wine of salvation,

Explanation

In the Gospel of Luke (5:33-39), the Pharisees question Jesus about His disciples not fasting. Jesus responds by comparing Himself to the bridegroom: as long as the bridegroom is present, the guests cannot fast. Fasting will come when He is taken away.
