Prayer for Saturday, May 30, 2026: “Before the Truth of the Heart”

In today’s Gospel, Jesus enters the Temple and is questioned by the leaders of the people. They want to know by what authority He speaks and acts. But the Lord sees beyond words. He looks into the heart. He sees the fear of those who do not truly want to change. We too sometimes seek answers without truly desiring the truth.

We remain at the doorway. Today the Lord invites us to enter His presence with sincerity. He asks for a simple heart. A heart free from calculation. A heart able to listen, to recognize His voice, and to trust His authority that comes from the Father’s love.

Lord Jesus,
You know what I carry within me.
You know my fears.
You know my resistance.
Give me a truthful heart.

When I close myself in pride,
bring me back into the light.
When I look for excuses,
teach me sincerity before You.

Help me not to fear the truth.
Your word does not wound.
Your word saves.
Your voice opens new paths.

Give me clear eyes,
able to recognize goodness.
Give me inner silence,
to hear what You wish to say to me.

And when my heart is confused,
stay beside me, Lord.
Guide me patiently.
Make me docile to Your will.
Amen.

EXPLANATION

In Mark 11:27-33, the chief priests question Jesus about His authority. But they are not truly seeking the truth. They fear the consequences. Jesus shows that a closed heart cannot recognize the work of God. This Gospel passage invites us to interior sincerity. Faith is not born from human calculation, but from humble listening to the Lord. Only those who open themselves with trust can understand God’s presence in their lives.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  1. Spend a few minutes in silence before the Lord.
  2. Ask yourself if you are avoiding an important truth in your life.
  3. Read today’s Gospel slowly.
  4. Entrust to Jesus a situation that confuses you.
  5. Practice one concrete act of sincerity and humility today.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

  1. Am I truly seeking the truth or only reassurance?
  2. When do I struggle to listen to God?
  3. What fears prevent me from trusting the Lord?
  4. Can I recognize the authority of Jesus in my life?
  5. How can I live with greater sincerity before God?
