Prayer of the day for Friday, July 3, 2026, entitled: “The Wounds of Light”

Thomas does not accept a secondhand faith. He demands an encounter, contact with the marks of the nails. Jesus responds not with reproach, but by showing His risen body. This passage invites us to cast our doubts into the abyss of divine mercy.

Lord Jesus, we often walk in the darkness of uncertainty. Like Thomas, we seek tangible proof of Your love. Do not leave us alone in our stubborn closures.

Come past the locked doors of our hearts. Show us the signs of Your glorious passion. In Your open wounds, we find profound healing.

Grant us the grace to touch Your flesh in those who suffer. Transform our unbelief into silent adoration. You know our frailties and You never reject us.

Teach us the blessedness of those who believe without seeing. Kindle a living faith that surpasses all human evidence. Guide us every day on the path of authentic hope.

My Lord and my God, accept our total surrender.

EXPLANATION

Today’s Gospel, on the feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle, reveals Christ’s pedagogy. Jesus does not marginalize the doubter but goes out to meet his weaknesses. Entering through locked doors, He overcomes the barriers of our fear. The invitation to touch the wounds shows that the Resurrection does not erase the Passion but transfigures it. Thomas, by touching Jesus’ wounded humanity, recognizes His divinity. His profession of faith becomes the pinnacle of the entire Gospel of John. We too are called to rediscover God’s living presence in the historical and sacramental signs of the Church.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

1. Entrust your spiritual doubts to God during personal prayer.
2. Look for the face of Christ by approaching the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
3. Serve a suffering person, thereby touching the living wounds of Jesus.
4. Make an act of faith by repeating in silence: “My Lord and my God”.
5. Avoid hasty judgments toward those who struggle to believe.
