Prayer of the Day Saturday, June 6, 2026: “The Treasure Hidden in the Heart”

In the Temple, many people bring offerings. Yet Jesus looks beyond appearances. He notices a poor widow who gives everything she has. Today we learn that, in God’s eyes, what matters is not the size of the gift, but the love with which it is offered.

Lord Jesus,
You who see into every heart,
teach me to live without seeking the approval of others.
May every action I take be born from love.

When I feel poor and weak,
remind me that in Your hands
even the smallest gift
can become a blessing.
Nothing is small when offered in faith.

Free me from the desire to be noticed.
Give me a humble heart,
able to serve in silence
and rejoice in hidden goodness.

Like the widow in the Gospel,
help me entrust to You all that I am:
my days, my struggles,
my hopes and my gifts.

May my true treasure
be my trust in You.
And may every offering made with love
become praise to the Father.
Amen.

EXPLANATION

In Mark 12:38-44, Jesus warns against the display of religious prestige and points to a poor widow as an example. While many give large amounts, she offers two small coins, everything she owns. Jesus reveals God’s way of seeing: He looks not at the amount given, but at the love, trust, and sacrifice behind the gift. This Gospel invites us to live an authentic faith, free from appearances and rich in hidden generosity.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  1. Perform a small act of charity today without telling anyone.
  2. Thank God for what you have, even if it seems little.
  3. Help someone without expecting anything in return.
  4. Spend a few minutes in silent prayer.
  5. Examine your heart more than your appearance.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

  1. Do I seek the approval of others more than God’s?
  2. What small gift can I offer today with love?
  3. Do I trust the Lord when I feel poor or weak?
  4. Can I recognize the value of hidden acts of goodness?
  5. What is the true treasure of my heart?
