Daily Prayer for Monday, June 15, 2026 entitled: “The Strength of an Unarmed Heart”

In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to follow a path that may seem difficult, yet it brings true freedom. Not to answer evil with evil. Not to be ruled by revenge. To ask for the grace to love as He loved. With trust, we place ourselves before the Lord.

Lord Jesus,

when my heart feels wounded,
teach me not to close myself off.
May Your peace be stronger
than my impulsive reactions.

When I encounter harsh words,
grant me a gentle gaze.
When I suffer injustice,
protect my soul from anger.
Help the freedom of forgiveness
grow within me.

You chose the path of love
even in the face of misunderstanding.
Lead me in Your footsteps.
Make me capable of answering evil
with goodness.

Give me an open heart.
Ready to help.
Ready to listen.
Ready to share
without calculation and without fear.

O Lord,
make my life a small light.
Where conflict arises,
let peace take root.
Where there is hardness,
let charity blossom.
Amen.

EXPLANATION

In Matthew 5:38-42, Jesus goes beyond the logic of revenge and teaches the logic of love. He does not ask us to be weak or passive, but to overcome evil without being conquered by it. Every disciple is called to imitate Christ, who answered hatred with forgiveness and violence with mercy. This Gospel passage invites us to cultivate a free heart, capable of generosity, patience, and trust in God’s justice.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  1. Avoid an impulsive response when provoked.
  2. Perform an act of kindness toward someone who hurt you.
  3. Offer help without expecting anything in return.
  4. Spend a few minutes praying for a difficult person.
  5. Try to bring peace into a tense situation.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

  1. How do I react when I am treated unfairly?
  2. Can I distinguish justice from revenge?
  3. Who is the person I find hardest to forgive?
  4. In what situations can I respond to evil with good?
  5. What is Jesus asking of me today to live charity more concretely?
