The Wisdom of a Heart That Dances with Grace
Jesus warns us against fickle attitudes and hasty judgments that reject the truth. God’s wisdom cannot be boxed into our prejudices. Let us open our minds to recognize the beauty of divine action in all its forms.
Teacher of truth and inner freedom,
deliver us from the obstinacy of judging without understanding.
Purify our eyes from the veils of superficiality and pride.
Source of all true wisdom,
teach us to listen to the rhythm of Your voice.
Make us ready to weep with the penitent and rejoice with the saved.
Mercy that breaks down human barriers,
guard our hearts from all futile murmuring.
Grant us the simplicity of little ones who recognize goodness.
Spirit of discernment and peace,
cause sincere charity to bloom in our communities.
Teach us to welcome Your gifts with joy.
Holy Father, we recognize Your righteousness in works of love.
Make us children of wisdom capable of bearing witness to You.
Guide us along the paths of the Gospel.
Amen.
In Luke (7:31-35), Jesus compares His contemporaries to children sitting in the marketplace who respond neither to the flute of joy nor to the dirge of mourning. They criticized John the Baptist for his austerity and Jesus for his closeness to sinners. The Magisterium teaches that true Wisdom is vindicated by her children through fruits of love and conversion. Grace requires a docile heart, capable of moving past rigid self-sufficiency to embrace God’s saving plan.
