Preghiera per ritrovare l’unità interiore nel tuo amore
Two sons, a vineyard and a father who waits. One says no and then goes. The other says yes and stays home. Jesus reminds us that faith is not words but steps. It is always possible to change course: the Father waits with patience.

Today, Father, you send me into your vineyard.
There is soil to hoe and fruit to await.
So many times I have said yes with my lips.
Let me say it with my hands.
You know my nos spoken in haste.
You know my hidden second thoughts too.
Give me the courage to retrace my steps.
It is never too late to obey you.
Jesus, you love the repentant more than the boastful.
Look upon hearts that feel secure.
Break the crust of presumption.
Revive humility in us.
Holy Spirit, power of change,
make our daily work fruitful.
May what we do be a welcome offering.
May the Lord’s vineyard flourish for all.
Welcome, Father, those who come home.
Sustain those who work in obscurity.
To you be glory, forever.
Amen.
In the Gospel of Matthew (21:28-32), Jesus tells of a father who asks his two sons to go and work in the vineyard. The first answers that he does not want to, but later repents and goes. The second says yes, but does not go. Jesus asks which of them did the father’s will, and the leaders answer: the first. The Lord declares that tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the Kingdom of God ahead of them, because they believed John the Baptist and were converted. God looks at the fruits and the conversion of the heart, not at words.
