Daily prayer of Tuesday, July 14, 2026 entitled: “The courage to change in the face of Grace”

Today Jesus shakes our lukewarmness, reminding us that receiving many spiritual gifts requires a sincere response. We often cradle ourselves in our habits, forgetting that faith demands daily conversion. Let us open our hearts to welcome His wonders not as spectators, but as redeemed sinners.

Lord Jesus, bend the hardness of our hearts.
We often see Your daily miracles but remain indifferent.
Give us new eyes to recognize Your presence.

Deliver us from the pride of believing we are already saved.
May Your word shake our spiritual laziness.
Do not let the gift of Your Grace be lost in us.

We ask You for the gift of a sincere conversion.
Do not allow our communities to become deaf to Your voice.
Awaken us from the sleep of habit and compromise.

Heal the blindness that prevents us from repenting.
Give us tears of consolation and holy fear.
Make us ready to change our lives for the love of Your Kingdom.

Welcome our desire to be reborn today.
You who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.

Explanation

In the passage from Matthew (11:20-24), Jesus severely reproaches the towns where most of His miracles were performed, because they did not repent. The Magisterial teaching of the Church reminds us that divine gifts and the Lord’s closeness are not privileges to boast about, but calls to profound spiritual responsibility. Lukewarmness and self-sufficiency risk making us deafer than those who have never known Christ. True faith is measured by the heart’s docility in changing one’s life.

Practical application tips in daily life

  1. Examine your conscience: Spend five minutes tonight reviewing your daily shortcomings and ask for forgiveness.
  2. Recognize miracles: Explicitly thank God for three gifts received today that you took for granted.
  3. Overcome indifference: Make a small gesture of charity toward a person you usually ignore.
  4. Listen carefully: Read the Word of God today looking for a lesson to put into practice immediately.
  5. Go to confession soon: Schedule your next sacramental confession to renew your heart.

Reflection questions for individuals or groups

  1. In the face of the many benefits received from God, what is my actual response of faith and change?
  2. Do I run the risk of being too accustomed to the signs of Grace, becoming indifferent to the Gospel?
  3. Which specific area of my life needs an authentic conversion the most today?
  4. Do I judge others thinking I am better just because I attend Church?
  5. Do I accept the Lord’s reproaches as gestures of love meant to save me?
