Who Is This Man? The Restlessness That Seeks the Light
Herod is perplexed: the fame of Jesus reaches even the palace. He silenced one voice, but a question keeps knocking within him. Before Christ, we too can choose curiosity or encounter. He lets himself be found by those willing to change.

So many voices around you, Lord!
Some esteem you, others confuse you.
Let me hear yours.
Make my heart clear.
Father, look upon our restlessness.
There is a guilt we have not named.
Give us the courage to bring it to you.
Your forgiveness is greater than fear.
Jesus, we do not want a faith of curiosity.
We want to truly meet you.
Pass through our locked rooms.
Call us by name and change us.
Spirit of truth, break the power that suffocates.
Remind us of the witnesses who paid for justice.
Enlighten those who govern and decide.
May they always choose the good.
We seek you with a sincere desire.
Let the search become an encounter.
Let the encounter become new life.
Amen.
In the Gospel of Luke (9:7-9), the tetrarch Herod hears of everything that is happening and is perplexed. Some say that John has been raised from the dead, others that Elijah has appeared, others that one of the ancient prophets has risen. Herod knows he had John beheaded and wonders who this man is. He tries to see him. His is restless curiosity, not yet faith. The Gospel invites us to move from mere curiosity to the sincere search for Christ, who reveals himself to those who let themselves be questioned.
